There's a lot to do in the Adirondacks.

Hiking

Maps and guides to Club trails are available at the Front Desk. We recommend either hiking Indian Head from the lower lake for a 45 min, easy climb to a fantastic view, Noonmark for an intermediate hike, or up the mighty Gothics trail for those of you with a will (and calves) of steel. The Lake Road is a 3.5 mile dirt road that gives you access to many hikes. We will be running the Club bus on the Lake Road on Saturday afternoon for rides directly to the lower lake, where you can hike and swim, or catch a ride back from a morning hike.

Guests going onto AMR property are requested to register at the gatehouse, for their own protection and safety. (please note; those of you who plan to hike Gothics are kindly reminded not to wear high heels afterwards at the wedding, as your legs will be shaky jello messes by that time, and not able to withstand the aesthetic setback of heels.)

We recommend the West River Trail for a hearty but pleasant walk. The trail

runs from the Club to the Lower lake via a 3.8 mile walk, passing Beaver Meadow falls and Rainbow falls before reaching the boat house.

Click here for the Adirondack Mountain Reserve website which includes detailed descriptions of hikes around the club.

Fly Fishing

There is a map on the front porch of the club with trails along the river that runs from the club to the Lower Lake and beyond. Ask Bill Hamill for his favorite spots.

Tennis
The Ausable Club has 7 har-tru courts located throughout the property.  Dress code; All white. Head and wristbands must be worn at all times in any color, wooden racquets preferred.

Golf

We will be having a tournament on the Ausable Club's challenging 9-hole golf course on Saturday. So get out your clubs and get ready to hit the long ball!

Golf Course Dress Code: Attire for all players includes collared shirts and decent trousers, shorts or skirts. Proper golf or athletic shoes are required and flip-flops, hiking boots and sandals are not permitted.

Lawn Bowling

You know you want to. Bowls, jacks, and mats are available in the “Lawn Bowls Hut”. The basic rules of the game are posted in the hut. Also posted are directions on where to leave equipment. There is no “dress code” for bowling but we request that you wear flat, rubber soled shoes.

Swimming & Boating

Down at the Lower Lake with the Loons.

In Town

In the town of Keene Valley just below the club you will find The Noonmark Diner, The Birch Store, killer Buffalo Wings at the Ausable Inn, the Mountaineer,

and a little grocery store.

In the town of Keene farther down 9N, there is a gas station and a good shop for all your taxidermy needs.

Mandatory Activity; hanging out on the porch.
